SKINLESS is a Berlin-based experimental studio focused on the environment, material memory and textures. Our work reframes the environment not as backdrop, but as the subject and material, transforming the surfaces and landscapes we move across into objects, sculptures and wearables.
SKINLESS is about the marks we leave on places and the marks places leave on us. Rather than concealing process or irregularity, we allow texture and trace to remain visible.
Our first drop, Imprints of a City, transforms an everyday Berlin sidewalk into a latex bag. Each piece begins with an imprint taken directly from the street. From that trace, a mold is made, and layers of latex are built up by hand. Through this process, a fragment of the urban landscape is translated into a sculpture carried on the body. What is usually stepped on becomes something held. What is overlooked becomes intimate. What is hard becomes soft.
We work with latex because of what it can hold. The surfaces around us are living archives of use, weather, and time. Latex captures that, pulling texture from the world and holding it without interpretation.
Yet latex is more than a recording material. It is responsive, malleable, and alive to touch and time. As the bag is carried and used, it continues to change, gathering creases, marks, and wear. Each piece exists between these two histories: that of the city it came from, and that of the person who carries it.
